CBD WHAT?!

What is CBD?:

Diving right into the subject, CBD is a shortened acronym for Cannabidiol(A large word! Right?). Shortening these larger names, while still knowing they have a larger parent word makes it easier to remember the acronyms outside of the world of molecular science. And this is why there are so many different names, slangs, and words used for these fat-soluble compounds.

CBD is a fat-soluble(meaning: Oil-based), plant-based compound that comes most prolifically from the Hemp plant. It can come from others such as the Marijuana plant(in much smaller quantities), but CBD/Cannabidiol can also be found in Hops, Coneflower, Black Pepper, and a South American Tree called; Trema micrantha blume, which creates a “true” CBD compound.

What is CBD for?:

The record of CBD used in Hemp is long and entwining with human history. Hemp grows VERY fast and is VERY hardy, up to 3 inches in a day, reaching full maturity within 60-75 days, and living nearly anywhere on earth. That’s why Hemp has been used throughout history as paper, building materials, medicine, and food. Nearly every culture on the planet has utilized it at some point in their accounting for one use or another.

In recent years, Hemp is being used for its medicinal qualities, namely as a pain reliver, stress reducer, calming aide for pets, and easing long-lasting issues stemming from auto immune diseases. These are some of the same reasons it has been used for thousands of years, spanning from China to the Americas.

Why use CBD?:

Pain, inflammation, auto-immune disease, anxiety, stress, PTSD, depression, hormone imbalance, appetite suppressant AND appetite stimulation, nerve disfunction, mental clarity, joint pain, sleep, and many other reasons are reported for why humans used CBD, or use it on their beloved pets.

Everyone uses CBD for different reasons and the wide world of CBD and Cannabinoids is large AND largely unregulated. Conflicting or outdated information makes this world of CBD seem daunting, and sifting through to organize the fact from the fiction feels like a grade-heavy college essay that was due yesterday.

Finding knowledgeable humans within the industry who desire strongly to work with your own medical needs as well as the opinions of your doctors is a great place to start. Many THC dispensaries have kind, genuine, and smart “Bud Tenders” that will explain to you everything you need to know about THC and CBD. If not a dispensary, there are wonderful, reputable CBD retailers that would enjoy having a conversation with you about your CBD needs.
